We are a Mexican company established in 1968, as a subsidiary of Duro Test Corporation, a leader in the lighting industry in the US. It has over 46 years of experience in the development of long-life, low-energy consumption products with specific features that guarantee we are the best choice for all types of industrial and commercial users.

Our product line consists of LEDs, incandescent bulbs, fluorescent, halogen, and high-intensity discharge lamps, ballasts, luminaries, accessories and emergency lighting systems, all of them with unsurpassed quality. We work together with our customers to meet their most demanding requirements and continue positioning ourselves as the best lighting company.

  • 1928

    The beginning

    DURO-TEST CORPORATION was founded, offering long-life bulbs (5000 hours) in order to compete with the industry standard (1000 hours).

  • 1938

    Early fluorescent

    Even before the presentation of the fluorescent light in the New York World’s Fair in 1939, Duro-Test had built a medium-based fluorescent lamp.

  • 1945

    Safreen

    This was the first of a white fluorescent lamps series, for specific applications, which was the most efficient of its time.

  • 1949

    Candelite

    The original warm white fluorescent bulb, and the first to simulate the aspect and warmth of incandescent light.

  • 1952

    V-Beam traffic light

    With its V-shaped filament, this is the traffic light bulb that lasts the most and which directs the light to the driver’s eyes.

  • 1955

    Fluomeric

    This was the first self-ballasted mercury lamp to combine the emission of incandescent, fluorescent and mercury light to improve light quality.

  • 1962

    Protected light bulb

    It was the first light bulb with safety glass, resistant to thermal shocks and impacts.

  • 1964

    Turquoise

    Green fluorescent optical light tubes with a relative intensity curve, nearly equal to the sensitivity of the human eye.

    Optimal

    These were the first fluorescent lamps that simulated the appearance of natural sunlight.

  • 1967

    Vita-Lite

    It’s the only general use fluorescent lamp that simulates the sunlight both in the visible light range and in the ultraviolet range of spectrum.

    DURO DE MÉXICO was established as a subsidiary of Duro-Test Corporation.

    Krypton

    These were the first light bulbs in the American continent that contained krypton gas. They had 10% more light than long-life standard lamps, with a length of 3.5 times more than the conventional types of high efficiency.

  • 1975

    Securilux (Safe-T-Vapor)

    This was the first mercury lamp with a safety mechanism that extinguished the arc tube in case of an exterior light bulb smash.

  • 1980

    Optimarc

    A high intensity discharge lamp for general lighting that simulated the visible spectrum of natural light.

  • 1982

    Emergency lighting system

    This was the first modular system that accepted up to eight fluorescent luminaries, developed in Mexico for the specific conditions of the C.F.E. power supply.

  • 1982

    Porcine infrared

    A lamp designed in Mexico that provided the necessary heat for the proper development in porcine maternities, and it had a 20% energy saving.

  • 1984

    Dio-Par (now Super-Par)

    PAR bulb halogen reflectors with intense white light and 20% energy savings compared to the incandescent light bulbs they replaced.

    DURO DE MÉXICO production plant starts operations in Tultitlán, State of Mexico.

    Cromapac

    Indoor and outdoor lighting for an Optimarc lamp.

    Duro-Gard

    Safety covers for fluorescent tubes.

    Dicrolite

    First dichroic long-lasting reflectors of 12 volts in Mexico.

    Duro-Flect

    Aluminum mirror reflector with high reflectance that allows the reduction in number of lamps and fluorescent luminaries, while increasing the level of useful light.

    Electronic Ballast T-12

    The first in its type that operated all existing slim-line lamps in the market (21, 32, 39, 55, 60 and 75 W). It had high efficiency and low harmonic distortion.

    Spiralux (DXL Energy Savers)

    First compact fluorescent bulb in a spiral, to replace incandescent bulbs with energy savings of 80% and ten times better duration.

    U.V. cover blocking for fluorescent tubes.

    DURO DE MÉXICO is no longer a subsidiary and operates with a 100% Mexican Capital.

    Introduction in Mexico of the first mogul-based spiral fluorescent lamp with high power, designed to replace incandescent mercury lamps of high consumption.

    EFirst luminary of its kind with T-5 H.O. Aurora V lamps. Two T-12 lamps and 180 watts of consumption can be replaced with just 108 watts of consumption.
